Finally Some More Scrappy Screart!

The DM is still drying, and it's late, hence the angled photo to stop the glare of the flash - but you get a good idea! I'm really enjoying the whole paint thing. If you haven't scrapped with paint - do yourself a favour and get your hands on some. Two good things about scrapping with paint. 1: The page has a touch of you - your style, and piece of you rather than the pre-made, prefabbed - someone elses style stuff, and 2: it's a whole lot cheaper! If you're at all ike me and trying the single income thing but also want to preserve the memoreies, then this is such a good option! Hope you're enjoying life in the village, x Me.

Laundry Floor Mosaic - Check!

Just thought I'd show you a couple of pics of how the mosaic turned out. I'm learning more and more about myself the more I delve into creative me! I realised that I was putting off doing it because I was afraid of failing - and I don't mean weep weep oh woe is me - just that niggly feeling inside of - oh yeah - tomorrow, tomorrow - and when I thought about it - I realised that I just felt like in my head things always seem so much nicer and better than how they turn out in real life! And being my first mosaic - I knew that I couldn't expect amazingness - but I just didn't have time to practise - so this is it - my first go - there on the floor for everyone to see. And having said all that - I quite like it - it's bright and colourful and lightens up the room - so I've achieved one aim!
As for the drawing I had - it turned out nothing at all like my mandala. I quickly realised after the first inner circle that I didn't have the tools, the skill at this point in time - or the time, to achieve those perfect lines - so I just basically said 'bugger it' and threw out my drawing, and just started putting tiles down without thinking about it - letting my eyes and the colours and shapes be the guide - so this is what evolved from that process. The only thing I don't like is the way the dark blue looks like a big hook coming down to the left.
Now I just have to finish off the curtains (for in front of those cupboards on the left) and the laundry is done (apart from a plumber putting the hot tap in and getting rid of those pipes on the walls)
Got a CJ in the mail today - Scrapwitches, so looking forward to adding to that one. Hope you are well and loving your life - love from Me X

Reduce Re-Use Recycle...

Just thought I'd show you a couple of photo frames I made up for Mac's new office at work. The idea came from Emily's blog - and they just looked way nicer than your run-of-the-mill silver or wooden frame. They're not behind glass though - but t'is just as easy to reprint a couple of new ones in a year or so anyway.

They're made out of old books, paper towels, paint, sticks, stamps, scraps of material and wire. I think they look great and will brighten up a very dull space!

I've finally attacked my laundry floor mosaic - so to speak. It's all been stuck down, just have to let it dry overnight and grout it tomorrow. So I should have some photos of it to post tomorrow if you're interested! Finish off the curtains and the laundry is finished! Got the second loo put in the bathroom too - just need a new window and to paint the ceiling and that's also finished!
Hope life is lovely in your part of the world. Leave me a message and say hi - introduce yourself, leave me a link to your little piece of cyber space! Luv from Me X

Didn't Make the Cut

Here's a few photos I took for the Simplicity theme over at Gallery 12 this week which didn't quite make it through the tough selection process I have in place! And there's one I managed to snap of Kunjie bounding towards the camera which I just love because it really captures his absolute doggy glee at being able to run free at the beach (complete with one blown out thong - what else would you find at the beach?!) Aparently there's a CJ winging its way to me as we speak, so some more scrarty love coming your way soon. And - will post some pics tomorrow of some lovely father's day presents I'm making for Mac at the moment... When is father's day anyway? Don't forget to have a squizz at Gallery 12 (see side link) and vote for your favourite photo. Hope you're having a great week no matter where you are in the village! Love from Me X

More Scrart and my New Oven!

Hi everyone! Well after a big hiccup with this layout in Maz's journal, I finally got it fillished(that's Millie-speak for finished!) As you can see from the pictures, it's quite layered. I used Gesso, textured paste, aquadhere, acrylic paints, oil pastels and mod podge. So, it took a few days as each different layer required some drying time. The CJ was on my scrart desk drying. I remember thinking that I hadn't heard Millie for a while - what could she be up to? I poke my head around the corner. I see her. She's propped up on her bent knees on my swivel chair in front of my desk. I see the journal, and I watch her as she puts paper over the photograph with glue and say "paste paste paste" just like I've heard them do lately on Playschool! But it wasn't the first attach - she's been here for about 5 minutes by the look of it... BUT! somehow I managed to resurect it by peeling off the photo, and sticking on a new one. Except I had to take another one - and it wasn't as good and the size was out - soooooo was left with this funny border thing happening... Anyway, it turned out ok in the end. I hope Maz likes it! I enjoyed just adding and adding, layer upon layer 'pon layer - hopefully I'll get the chance to do some more of this soon. Here's a few snapshots of the double page layout...

Millie Moo was doing some of her own creating today. She's righ tinto circles atm and I wish I had some audio to go with these pics. As the hand swirls round to make the big circle it's complete with " a BIG wocket" "BIG woCKet" )tha's rocket for those of you who don't know 2 year old speak). I'm not sure why, but she's into rockets lately... How gorgeous are these!

Oooh - this one's for mum - look what I've got! It's been 5 months without an oven - only a two burner camping stove with the gas bottle on the bench top! Honestly, the day before I got this beauty I felt like a kid on Christmas eve! Made a luscious Impossible Lemon Pudding in it too - and in honour of the occassion, here's the recipe for you all to enjoy!
Impossible Lemon Pudding
Ingredients
1 Cup od dessicated coconut ( I only had shredded and it was fine)
1/2 cup plain flour
1 1/4 cup castor sugar
grated rind of one lemon
1/3 cup lemon juice ( I just used the juice of that one lemon)
1 1/2 cups of milk (I used 1 and 3/4 to get more runny consistency)
40g melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Pouring cream to serve (vanilla ice cream here)
Method:
Preheat oven to 180 C
Combine coconut, sugar, flour and lemon rind in a large bowl.
Add the eggs, lemon juice, milk, butter and vanilla and stir until well combined.
Pour into a 4-cup capacity baking dish/casserole thingy and bake 40-45 mins or until the top is golden brown,
Allow to cool slightly before serving.
This is sooo yummy - really quick and easy to make. Hope you enjoy it!
And last but not least a couple more of the Happy Jack - have been playing around in photoshop with these - what do you think?

Have a wonderful week - what's left of it. Pop over to Gallery 12 and cast your vote! Thanks for stopping by, X Me

A Little Bit of Toby-ness

The little guy is growing like grass - so thought you might like to catch up on some recent pics. These were taken two days ago. Toby was having a fat time rolling around on Miss Moo's bed and there was a beautiful light streaming through the window. A couple are a little blury - but I like them too. So - hence the girly bed if you're wondering!

Just about finished a CJ for Poppy'smum's swap - so will have that to post in a day or so. AND - got a great book yesterday titled acrylic Revolution - so will have a bit of a play in the next week or so and hopefully a little more fruit will come out of this scrap room yet.

I'm thinking of re-naming it 'scrart' - rather than scrap as I feel as though I'm blending both scrapping and art techniques. Hmm Scrart. Has a certain ring to it don't you think? (I copyright that by the way!) Thanks for stopping by to have a looksie - hope you're well, X Me.
