Taking Flight

Recieved my copy of the most gorgeous, amazing book "Taking Flight" by Kelly Rae Roberts. So inspiring and exactly what I need right now. Had a go at her technique for this cj swap but didn't have some of the oil paints for the face so it looks really daggy, I know. But I guess, the only way is up. I want to stay with these techniques and see if I can develop them. I have some paint stiks coming on order, so really looking forward to those.

I just have this insatiable need to create - to paint and do more... Hmm Still just having to grab snippets of time here and there. Moments of inspiration. I'd LOVE LOVE to go on an art camp/retreat and just create and paint and learn for a few days, now that would be a real treat for the soul! Here's another great quote - from the book...

If you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise. Robert Fritz

Thanks for popping in to my piece of cyber space, X Me.

My Purple Patch!

WOW! What a fortnight it has been! two weeks ago I won round one over at Scrapchat in the Scrapaway contest - feelgood #1. Then, last week I got my layout back in the mail with a copy of the Scrapbook Creations mag with my first published LO in - feelgood #2. Then, last week I went to the shops only to realise that I'd been shortlisted to the top 20 in a photo competition I'd entered for the local Centro Shopping centre. Both of my pics were blown up super large and on display - it was so amazing to see them there! AND THEN...

I got a phone call this morning to say that I'D WON!!! I was so amazed and excited and here's the booty (plus the mag layout). I won a Sony Cyber Shot digital camera and a Sony Picture Station which prints 4x6 photos - how cool is that! And now I go in the running for a national prize, so I'll let you know if my luck continues, watch this space!

The Booty...

My gorgeous girl - this one looked amazing blown up to poster size and the great news is - I get to keep them both after the display finishes!

My winning pic - the competition was called "Smile" so you can see why I chose these photos!

Well, I'm off to have a play with the new little printer, and try and get another layout done for week three at Scrapchat. Hope you had a great weekend, and thanks for stopping by.

Love Me X

I found this beautiful quote the other day...

"I am one of the searchers. There are, I believe, millions of us. We are not unhappy, but neither are we really content. We continue to explore life, hoping to uncover its ultimate secret. We continue to explore ourselves, hoping to understand. We like to walk along the beach, we are drawn by the ocean, taken by its power, its unceasing motion, its mystery and unspeakable beauty. We like forests and mountains, deserts and hidden rivers, and the lonely cities as well. Our sadness is as much a part of our lives as is our laughter. To share our sadness with one we love is perhaps as great a joy as we can know - unless it be to share our laughter.
We searchers are ambitious only for life itself, for everything beautiful it can provide. Most of all we love and want to be loved. We want to live in a relationship that will not impede our wandering, nor prevent our search, nor lock us in prison walls; that will take us for what little we have to give. We do not want to prove ourselves to another or compete for love.
For wanderers, dreamers, and lovers, for lonely men and women who dare to ask of life everything good and beautiful. It is for those who are too gentle to live among wolves."

~James Kavanaugh

Springtime!

Don't you just love spring! The weather here has been nothing short of fabulous. The most gorgeous warm days - just begging us all to go outside and play! So I've been getting stuck into the garden and planting lots of flowers and herbs, rearranging pots etc. Went to the anual Chapman Valley show on Saturday which was great. Millie had a fun time with her bestie Harry. On friday we went for a picnic at the park with some 'special' friends (Guy and Polar Bear) and also met some 'real' friends to play with too! After that it was a trip to the Grenough Wildlife park for a snake talk. So it's been a busy weekend and lots of fun.
I've been downloading some great photoshop actions - and have had a little play on the weekend with them. What do you think?

Wed Night Scraps

Each wed night I head over to 'Lissa's house together with Lisa to have a yak and scrap. This was my last effort. It was a first for me to actually get something done - usually it's more yak than scrap which is great fun in itself!

Also got tagged for this little award thingo:
Thanks Nic P!
Am supposed to tag 7 others too - but I think they've all been tagged as well. So I'll do as Poppy'smum did and mention some of my must-check-in-every-day blogs...
1. Nic Pomeroy: This girl gets better by the day - I love how she manages to produce unique and funky designs.
2. Lisa Oxley: The perfect blend of colour, texture and embellishment. If you love arty scrapping, then look here, she's the queen of paint!
3. Tracey Thorne: Never does a bad layout - this girl has a great sense for type and design (but she needs to show us more!LOL)
4. Emily Falconbridge: You probably all know her scrap style - I just love her unique, arty, boho style and those gorgeous photos she uses. Always heaps of inspiration here.
5. Michelle Jamieson: This gal never produces a dud - such an eye for colour and fonts - a fresh funky chick!
6. Jen Hall: You've heard me mention her before, but I will again. The busiest gal in the world, manages to do absolutley everything! BUT - I mostly love how she turns her hand to make titles and embelishments instead of using pre-made. It's so unique and personal - and if you're on a budget - oh so good to do!
7. Melissa Corbett: Crisp, funky and photo centred - I LOVE LOVE LOVE her scraps!
8. And I couldn't not add in the very talented Anne Maree. This girl is a great mixed media artist who does layers like breathing. I wish I had some of her style!
Thanks for all your constant inspiration gals!

I hope you are well and learning lots and enjoying the adventure! Thanks for stopping by, X Me.

Week 1 Project Scrapaway

Over at Scrapchat there is a new challenge running. Each week for ten weeks a theme is posted. There are points awarded for meeting all the requirements and some very cool prizes at the end for a few lucky gals. The first week was a blue monochrome layout - which also had to include two photos, some ribbon, a stamped image and some journalling. Check, check, check and check... What do you reckon? Thanks for stopping by, X Me
